Want Cleaner? Go Greener!
Water crisis is becoming one of the major issues in Pakistan. According to a survey report, a major drought is expected by 2025. Alarming, right? This water crisis is not only affecting our daily household chores but it has much deeper impact than what we think.
The water crisis is going to ruin our major industry, the agriculture that generates the major share of our economy. More electricity shortage is expected amid a water crisis, as our dams drying out by each passing day. Rice, that generates a fair share of our country’s output, is supposedly going to be lower than average this year because it’s a summer crop and best harvested in hotter temperature, i.e. June-July, but due to lower rainfall ratio, the harvesting might get delayed till November-December, when the temperature is relatively low, so the total amount of rice being exported will eventually be lower than usual. Same is the case with all the other summer crops.
Do you know the major reason behind this no rainfall at all, or sometimes a very heavy rainfall that comes up with the floods? Yes! It’s the excessive deforestation.
According to a survey, from 1990 to 2000, continuous deforestation has uncovered 41,100 hect ors of the area that was previously covered with thick woods. The rate of average deforestation per annum, hence hits 1.63%, that doesn’t look big, but trust me, it’s HUGE! Huge enough to let our coming generations die of Drought, starvation and most importantly, lack of oxygen. Our ancestors cared about us so they left a land of greens for us to live on, but what are we leaving for our generations. A land of pure desert?
In this situation, Gulberg Islamabad took a step forward and come up with a campaign, “Green Saviour”, a souvenir to the Mother earth. The campaign is about keeping this world clean and green. The administration of Gulberg Islamabad understands the severity of the current environmental changes that our country is going through and believes that one of the major reason behind all these environmental changes is deforestation. So, Gulberg Islamabad is lending a hand foe making this earth a beautiful, clean, calm and green place to live on.
People from all over the country are invited to come to Gulberg Islamabad, Get a plant from Gulberg’s dedicated nurseries and plant it in Gulberg Islamabad. Providing a tree to the visitors and taking care of that plant for the rest of its life span is Gulberg’s responsibility, all what you need to do plant that tree by your own hands. The reason behind the campaign and behind getting people involved in the campaign (when Gulberg already has a n agricultural staff of around 500 members) is to raise awareness in the general public about plantation and to make people understand the importance of keeping the country green.
We invite you all to be a part of “Green Saviour” campaign and help us providing a better land to your future generations.
